Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
Opening Statement
Unifab Industries is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in its corporate activities and its supply chain. This statement sets out our commitment to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps we take to ensure that no slavery or human trafficking takes place in any part of our business or supply chain.
Our Organisational Structure
Unifab Industries is a UK-based manufacturer and supplier of healthcare uniforms and medical workwear. We operate with high ethical standards and expect the same from our suppliers and partners. Our supply chain includes manufacturers of fabrics, components, and finished garments, primarily located in the UK and internationally.
Our Policies
We operate several internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:
- Anti-Slavery Policy: This policy sets out our stance on modern slavery and how we expect our employees and suppliers to act.
- Whistleblowing Policy: We encourage all our workers, customers, and other business partners to report any concerns related to the direct activities, or the supply chains of, the organisation.
- Code of Conduct: Our code makes clear to employees the actions and behaviour expected of them when representing the organisation.
Due Diligence Processes
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we perform due diligence when taking on new suppliers and regularly review our existing suppliers. This includes:
- Evaluating the modern slavery and human trafficking risks of each new supplier.
- Conducting supplier audits or assessments where high risks are identified.
- Requiring our suppliers to provide confirmation that they adhere to the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Risk Assessment
We recognise that the manufacturing of textiles and apparel is a high-risk sector for modern slavery. We manage this risk by prioritising long-term relationships with reputable suppliers who can demonstrate ethical practices and certifications (such as SEDEX or ISO standards).
Training
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide training to relevant members of staff to help them identify and prevent these practices.
Approval
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Unifab Industries' slavery and human trafficking statement for the current financial year.
